For the first time since the dawn of our democracy, South African actors now have an opportunity to claim their space as equal partners in the Audio Visual Industry!
The Copyright Amendment Bill and the Performers Protection Amendment Bill are drafted so that actors will never again be forced to sign away all their rights in exchange for a meagre daily performance fee. Never again will actors be mocked and told to ‘either take it or leave it’. The Bills stand for industry transformation and they have already been adopted by the National Assembly!
But international organizations and their South African sympathizers are lobbying hard to stop these Bills at the NCOP. Why? Because by stopping the Bills they can continue to exploit South African talent, and continue to make millions of on top of their already significant profits.
SAGA needs your help: Please sign our petition and tell our law makers to represent OUR voices, and not the voices of corporate bullies who conspire to keep actors bound by the shackles of poverty.
